An Important Call for Growth

I am an avid student of astrology and follow several online astrologers. ALL of them, for the entire year of 2019, have discussed the upheavals of 2020. There is no way that anyone cannot have been affected by the events of the past months. What we should consider is how these events have positioned us to grow; personally, nationally and globally ???

As to the Covid-19 crisis, my heart and prayers go out to all who have been affected by this disaster. Those who have suffered loss, those who have worked tirelessly as supporters and responders, and indeed to everyone dealing with the lock down changes. I am blessed in my studies of varied philosophies and Eastern thought to have a solid relationship to the ideas concerning death, and do not fear that eventuality. I am likewise blessed to be free of the serious relationship attachments to which most people are committed. Having a physical body is a tremendous gift and should be respected for as long as possible. It is the vehicle of growth and evolution on this physical plane.

I was therefore not concerned to join this recent demonstration of solidarity concerning the GREATLY NEEDED awareness for social change in the United States. In the photos you can see how people were masked and following distance protocols by and large. The event was peaceful, inspiring to the hundreds of people who attended and watched, and organized with the awareness of the local authorities. My favorite sentiment is the sign asking to “REDEFINE”.  Yes, we must WAKE UP, EVOLVE, REDEFINE and GROW, for the good of all humanity.

In the words of poet, Maya Angelou, “I believe that people have the ability to change. Therefore I have hope.” Hoping we can rise to the occasions of these destined challenges of 2020.

New Decade….San Diego

We have arrived to the “Roaring 20’s” millennial style! Such an exciting, challenging, and wondrous time to be alive! Wherever you find yourself, appreciation of the beauty that surrounds you can only enhance your well being. Let us collectively set an intention for this new decade to work together for the good of human kind and our planet, Earth.

Here are a few shots of the many reasons I am happy to begin 2020 in beautiful San Diego.  A World Class Zoo, free concerts in the Balboa Park Organ Pavilion, a mixture of multinational cultural influences, and the fantastic combination of a temperate climate and the beauty of the ocean.

Remembering to Count our Blessings!

A Teacher Extrordinaire

I first met Roy Eugene Davis at his Retreat Center home in northern Georgia, the Center for Spiritual Awareness. He was a wholehearted Jnana Yogi, a natural lecturer, and a prolific writer on Hindu philosophy, or Santana Dharma. Mr. Davis was a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda and a minister for the Self Realization Fellowship during the final years of Yogananda’s life. After Yogananda’s passing in 1952 , Roy Davis left SRF and eventually founded his own center , CSA, in Georgia.

I visited the Georgia Center numerous times and at one point hoped to interview Mr. Davis for Yoga Journal magazine. His comment on this idea was that he felt he and Yoga Journal were on different paths. Never the less, I was blessed to “sit at the feet” of this Master Yoga teacher over a number of years.

Mr. Davis passed suddenly and quietly on March, 27 2019 at the age of 88 years. He had been in good health up until the final days of his life, keeping up with his busy writing and correspondence schedule. It was indeed an honor for me to have known and studied with this wonderful teacher. He will be greatly missed here on the Earth plane. The Heaven planes will rejoice to have one of their sons returned home.

Let us all give thanks for the life of such a man who was sincerely devoted to the spreading of the wisdom of Yoga and the upholding of its ideals. We have been blessed by his presence among us.

With Love, Namaste, Mr. Davis
