“Rewind in 2022” King’s Canyon Yoga and Sound Immersion Retreat

It is surprising to me that many people have never heard of the gorgeous National Parks in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, those south of Yosemite National Park. Yosemite of course is extremely famous for the wonderful views that are so often photographed as you enter that Park. 112 miles south of Yosemite are the National Parks, King’s Canyon and Sequoia. I highly encourage those of you who have not yet experienced these Parks to put them on your bucket lists.

In the National Forest lying between the two Parks is a very special Retreat facility, Camp Far Horizons. The Theosophical Society was granted a 99 year lease of this property in the 1950’s. Continuing to operate five months of the year, the Camp is without electricity or constant wireless connectivity, thus their promo “Disconnect to Reconnect”. My friend El Larson and I were happy to return to Far Horizons this year as a “Rewind” of our 2021 Retreat. We were excited and pleased to meet new faces and welcome returning students.

Our schedule included Ashtanga based yoga, chair yoga, pranayama, philosophy study, and evening Sound Bath Meditations. The 3 meals a day (inclusive) offered exceptional vegetarian/vegan cuisine. No instant camp food! The camaraderie of the group has left us with wonderful memories and nurtured new friendships. Many thanks to everyone involved; staff, volunteers, and retreatants. Inner Yoga & Sound Immersion 2021

This Retreat in Kings Canyon National Park in early August was a truly extraordinary event! Putting together a workshop of this type within the lingering shadow of the Covid pandemic was a bit like diving off a high cliff into deep water with no life vest. The Universal Divine smiled on us in everyway, for this I am beyond grateful.

Far Horizon’s Retreat Camp is situated in a fantastically beautiful section of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The photos give an impression, but to be there is magical. Our group was an intimate gathering of hardy beautiful “peeps” who blossomed like the mystical lotus lily over the 4 days we shared. The staff of Far Horizons was top notch, the accommodations (despite the spiders and mice!) were rustic camp comfortable, and the vegetarian/vegan kitchen was fantastic. We shared inspired asana classes, philosophy discussions, and amazing Sound Bath Meditations; interwoven with hiking and sightseeing adventures. Thanks to all of you who made this happy event possible! AND El and I have been asked to return in summer of 2022!! Mark those calendars.

Kings Canyon Yoga and Sound Retreat

Wow! What a year we have all lived through! Such tough lessons, but with many wonderful new life developments along the way. Prayers to all those who have suffered loss. Healing can take time, I hope everyone is supported in all necessary ways.

As our country reopens most of us will be ready to make plans for some type of adventure. Being cooped up for all these months has everyone ready to roam. I am planning to offer a Summer Yoga Retreat in Kings Canyon National Park at the Far Horizons Retreat Center in August. I will be co- presenting with a fantastic Sound Healer and Wellness Designer from Los Angeles, El Larson. Since Kings Canyon borders Sequoia National Park , it is really a two for one National Park Experience. We will have a meditative yoga practice to start the day, plenty of free time for exploration in the Parks, and finish the day with an evening Sound Bath program. Far Horizons is quite rustic, but the natural beauty is stupendous and great vegetarian meals are included with the accommodations.
